Peer Support

Empowering the Building Blocks of Organisational Resilience

Psychological First Aid (PFA)

We often associate “First Aid” with a serious and potentially threatening event that happened. In contrast, our rendition of PFA aims to equip individuals with the fundamental skills required to provide initial support to those in distress.

These include learning about the warning signs, basic attending skills, and linking them to appropriate resources.

Having a group of trained individuals within the organisation serve as building blocks of resilience within the workplace, where peers are empowered to support one another.

We further equip individuals to provide ongoing emotional support for their peers in distress. Firstly by understanding the nuances of mental health issues and then by using specific techniques to help them.

Utilising simple but effective techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, participants are able to more competently follow up with and provide more confidence to their peers in distress that change is possible.

There are two levels available for this topic:
1. Basic Level – Foundations of Care and Support
2. Intermediate Level – Mastering Care and Support
